VOICES OF CHANGE is an initiative facilitated by Meredith College and its community partners to elevate and support the political engagement of Black women and women of color. The Oral History Project lifts up the stories of courageous Black women and women of color from the past to inspire a new generation of leaders to work toward political change. The Political Institute provides Black women and women of color with knowledge and skills to pursue elected or appointed office successfully.
In 2021 Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina was selected by the Council of Independent Colleges and the Gilder-Lehrman Center at Yale University to serve as one of six Regional Collaboration Partners within the national Legacies of American Slavery project. This multi-year project will provide opportunities for faculty, students, and community partners to participate in research, teaching and learning, and public discussions about the legacies of American slavery.
Legacies of American Slavery is an initiative of the Council of Independent Colleges, in cooperation with the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition at the MacMillan Center, Yale University. It is supported by a generous grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
